Mercedes-Benz reveals new electric truck with 500 km range

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has presented the new eActros Lowliner at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany. The electric truck was developed mainly for high-volume freight operations, where trailer space matters as much as payload.

The new model uses a lower fifth-wheel position, allowing it to pull large-volume trailers while staying within legal vehicle-height limits. To make this possible, Mercedes changed the position of the battery packs, installing them lengthwise along the chassis instead of across the frame.

Two versions will be offered. The eActros 400 Lowliner comes with two LFP battery packs and 414 kWh of installed capacity, while the eActros 600 Lowliner uses three packs totaling 621 kWh.

According to Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the eActros 600 Lowliner can travel around 500 kilometers on a full charge while fully loaded. In some high-volume transport jobs, where the total combination weight is lower, the truck may travel even farther.

Charging can be done through the standard CCS2 system at up to 400 kW. Mercedes also plans to offer Megawatt Charging System support during the second half of 2027. With MCS, the eActros 600 Lowliner can go from 10% to 80% battery charge in about 29 minutes, while the two-battery version takes around 27 minutes.

Under the chassis, the Lowliner uses the same electric drive concept found in the eActros 600, with two electric motors, a four-speed transmission and up to 600 kW of peak output.

Orders for the new Lowliner models are opening in selected European and international markets in 2026. Series production is scheduled to begin at Mercedes-Benz’s Wörth plant in Germany in the second quarter of 2027.
